Not Doing the Job
Simply put, we agree with the Daily Cal editor in that the ASUC is not doing its job in a fair sense with regard to the Eshleman library. The library that they promised is a shoddy example of student government promises.

Selling our student library and putting it at the 7th floor in Eshleman hall is selling the students out. The University has plenty of spaces to accomodate multicultural centers, etc. but the ASUC sells out its own students our ONLY speace for a library/student union/career center. So much for the ASUC being independent. The ASUC is losing faith in its supporters one by one.
A student government does not do its job when it claims that it's helping students by limiting the little space students have on campus, selling out to a University that is increasing its fees upon us like ranaway inflation.

The ASUC does the best job it possibly can. So what if it wastes our money? Better them than the University!
How do you figure?
That's right. ASUC does a horrible job if it cannot even run a small lounge room 24 hours a day. We aren't even talking about a "library". While it was open 24 hours about year and a half ago I would use Eshleman lounge for studying and allnighters. It was a good thing it was there. Stupid asuc, ran by incompetent people. Solution: disband asuc and have a small committee or professionals who are educated and trained in organization and finances run a very limited budget and get us a 24 hour study lounge.

I second Yuriy's proposal. Since when are Manny, Jason, Sharon and Anil "professionals" or the 20 lunatics who run the senate qualified?
Get the facts! Guess who manages the everyday operations? The ASUC-Auxiliary, composed of professionals.
Why isnt the library open 24 hours? Well, because there are not enough CSO's this year to manage the security.
The ASUC does not control the CSO program and it is not their fault if there are not enough CSO's to hire and make it run in a safely.
